Your safari, their future
Safaris that make a difference
At Sunset Adventure Safari, we believe that responsible travel includes giving back. That’s why we proudly support the HIMD project, which empowers Maasai girls and other vulnerable youth with education, safety, and opportunity. It’s our way of helping build a stronger future for the communities we work with every day.
The HIMD rescue center
The HIMD rescue centre is located on the outskirts of Arusha. It offers a safe haven for Maasai girls who were forced to flee their homes to escape early marriage — sometimes as young as 8 years old.
At the centre, these girls are given the chance to continue their education, from primary through secondary school. After that, they can pursue further studies in areas such as Early Childhood Education, Tourism, Secretarial work — or any path they choose.
In addition, the centre provides practical skills training, including computer classes, sewing workshops, and life skills sessions. The rescue centre relies entirely on donations to continue its important work.

"How can I help?"
Want to Help? Here’s How.
Many of our safari guests ask us: How can we help? What can we bring? You’re more than welcome to support the HIMD rescue centre. Below is a list of items that are currently needed. You’re welcome to bring donations directly to the centre, or we’ll gladly make sure they get there for you.
Items that are always appreciated:
Clothing and shoes for girls aged 7 to 18
Baby clothes and blankets
Exercise books and school supplies (pencils, sharpeners, etc.)
Used but working laptops
